ABOUT YIN

Experience the profound benefits of Yin Yoga, a gentle and introspective practice that complements the dynamic and muscular (Yang) styles of yoga. Suitable for practitioners of almost all levels, Yin Yoga focuses on targeting the connective tissues of the hips, pelvis, and lower spine, providing deep nourishment and restoration.

In Yin Yoga, you will discover the art of relaxation within simple poses that are held for an extended period. By holding these poses, you allow the stretch to penetrate the connective tissue in your spine, hips, and other joints. Over time, this practice can help release any areas where the fascia, the tissue that binds groups of muscles, may have become inflamed and stuck, leading to pain and stiffness. Through gentle and repeated stretches, you can release these sticking points and restore optimal mobility.

Although Yin Yoga may initially appear passive or soft, it can be surprisingly challenging due to the prolonged duration of each pose. Postures are typically held for one to five minutes, providing an opportunity for deep introspection and a profound connection with your body and breath.

Derived from traditional Yoga poses, Yin poses have been specifically named to distinguish them, as they focus on accessing and nurturing the connective tissues. Interestingly, these connective tissues may hold the key to discovering subtle energy channels within the body, known as Nadis in Yoga and Meridians in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Beyond the physical benefits, Yin Yoga offers a transformative practice that calms the mind, cultivating a sense of deep refreshment and tranquility.

Who will benefit from Yin Yoga? Yin Yoga is suitable for:

  • Yogis of all levels seeking to access deeper joint flexibility

  • Sportsmen and women who are fit and strong but experience tightness and limited flexibility

  • Elderly individuals aiming to improve joint flexibility and overall well-being

  • Pre- and postnatal women seeking gentle and nurturing movement

  • Hyperactive and busy individuals who find it challenging to still the mind and reconnect with themselves

  • Beginners who wish to embark on a yoga journey but prefer a less intense and more nurturing practice

Yin Yoga classes are designed for all levels of students, with poses adjusted to cater to beginners. Join us and experience the profound benefits of Yin Yoga as you embark on a journey of self-discovery and holistic well-being.

Embrace the serenity and transformation that Yin Yoga offers, deepening your practice both on and off the mat.

ABOUT HATHA FLOW

Discover the essence of balance and alignment with Hatha Flow Yoga. Rooted in the traditional Hatha Yoga practice, this style focuses on harmonising the mind, body, and spirit.

The term "Hatha" embodies two meanings: "wilful" or "forceful," representing the yoga of activity, and "sun" (ha) and "moon" (tha), symbolising the yoga of balance. Hatha Flow is a gentle and accessible form of yoga, making it ideal for beginners or those who prefer a more relaxed and slower-paced approach. In Hatha Flow, poses are held for longer durations, allowing you to delve deeper into the experience and find inner stillness.

During the practice, we incorporate gentle sun salutations to warm up the body and create a smooth flow of movement. This mindful approach promotes increased flexibility, muscle tone, and strength. Hatha Flow also benefits your overall health by improving circulation, enhancing cardiovascular function, and promoting restful sleep. As you move through the sequences, you will experience heightened energy levels, improved athletic performance, and a reduction in injuries.

One of the remarkable aspects of Hatha Flow is its ability to detoxify your organs, improve posture, and alleviate anxiety, depression, and chronic pain. The deliberate pacing of the practice allows you to explore each pose with mindfulness and intention, releasing endorphins that uplift your mood and bring about a sense of well-being.

In Hatha Flow classes, we emphasise the importance of proper alignment and offer variations to suit students of all levels. The sequence of poses is thoughtfully designed for each class, ensuring a varied and engaging experience every time you step onto your mat.
